California Honeymoon
The time has come where I have to book the Honeymoon for me and Grace in September, as originally planned we will fly into San Francisco, spent a few days sight seeing, drive up to Napa Valley to sample the Wine and then continue on to the Yosemite National Park.
My major concern is the drive between each stop-of,f but I am trying to maximise the stay in each location to a few days and a couple of hours drive.
From Yosemite to Berkley, I'm hoping a student town can offer us entertainment in some form and then down to Monterey via highway 101 to live the American driving dream.
To be honest, driving America has always been my dream and Grace is kind enough to let me fulfill this dream on our proposed honeymoon. I guess its the sense of freedom and adventure which America offers, so well illustrated in the film 'In to the Wild'.
Morro Bay is next on the stop and I chose this only as it was a short 2 hour drive, but pictures on google present a wonderful image of laid-back America, the huge rock which dominates the sea view reminds me of the film 'Goonies', when after riding their bikes and discovering the tavern, Mikey holds up the badge to the rocks to confirm their location.
Santa Barbara is a must see, it doesnt appeal to me as I have images of wealth and arrogance, like the TV series Dynasty, I could be well off here but these are my pre-conceptions and any how it is all part of the California beauty.
As Im typing , the TravelBag brochure was just posted through the door, excellent timing!
Finally we arrive in Los Angeles and expect the full American charm, fun and excitement! We are planning to stay in a hotel on the strip and catch a glimpse of fame.
We are debating wether to drive to Las Vegas, as I have never been, but the long drive could be a killer, so we will have to fly....come on, we have to finish up in Vegas!
